Deep Roots was brewed using 100% local malt from Riverbend Malthouse and local overwintered carrots harvested specifically for us by our good friends Paradise Produce in Pleasant View, TN. We use a unique Lithuanian Farmhouse yeast from Omega Yeast that gives fruity lemony esters and is low on the phenols. Expect a soft, velvety-smooth mouthfeel with a touch of citrus provided by the yeast, along with a pleasant light malt character supported by slightly earthy sweetness from the carrots.
Without roots, there would be no soil. Without soil, there would be no beer. Roots help hold the soil together and contribute to it. This beer is a reminder and testament for us as we try to remain rooted in who we are and rooted in the communities in which our beer is grown & consumed.
